Homemade energy bars

I never thought making energy bars at home would be such a piece of cake until I tried. Neither cooking nor baking involved! All you got to do is blend the ingredients and chill them. You are set to carry your ready-to-go energy bars anywhere, anytime!! It’s cost effective and you need not worry about any kind of additives!

They are absolutely versatile so can just play with the ingredients and the ratio each time you make them. All you need are some nuts, dates and dried berries.

Ingredients:

1 cup pitted dates

1/2 cup prunes

1/4 cup raisins

1 1/2 cup mixed nuts ( I used from the bag of nut mix that had brazil nuts, cashews, almonds and walnut). You could used any combination or almonds alone

1 tbs flax seeds

1 tbs chia seeds

Method:

  1. Blend all the ingredients together until they break down and you get a coarse consistency. Dates will make the mixture bind and clump.
  2. Now transfer this mixture onto a pan or cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and press it well.
  3. Refrigerate for couple of hours and then cut them into desired shape.
  4.  Wrap them in cling wraps and store in the refrigerator.

Quick tip:

Add 1-2 tsp water if you feel the mixture hasn’t clumped to the desired consistency.
